Boat & Equipment Reviews
What do you think? We’d really like to know!
You can’t have a TV show about boating and not have reviews of boats and boating equipment on it. If you are interested in boating you will want to know what’s new on the market and whether it is any good. The problem with many boat reviews is that they are provided by people who have an interest in selling them, so the review is not as objective as you, the buyer, would like. You are likely to hear about all the good points of that boat, but not so much the bad. It seems to us at Boating DownUnder that there are 3 ways to review boats:-
Reviews supplied by the manufacturer or seller of the boat
Pros
Lots of detailed information about the construction performance of the boat
Cons
Not very objective and designed to convince the buyer to buy their boat over another brand
Reviews by experienced and objective professional reviewer of boats
Pros
Should be objective and provided by someone who has a lot of experience to make comparisons and is not afraid to criticize a brand
Cons
How objective is the reviewer? How experienced is the reviewer? Does he/she have a vested interest?
Reviews by actual owners of boats
Pros
Owners can speak from long expeience of having operated their boats and if they have experience with other boats they have owned, they can make comparisons
Cons
Some owners may not have long experience to draw from or any experience with other brands to make comparisons
So we are seriously considering how we should review boats on the upcoming Boating Downunder TV show. Do you want to see reviews done by salesman or independent (?) reviewers or do you want to hear what actual owners have to say about their boats? Let us know what you think via our email address. It is important to us that Boating Downunder is a show for real people and their boating lifestyles. We want your thoughts!
