There is believed to be over 7000 shipwrecks around the Australian coast. Each episode of Boating Downunder will feature a story about one of these shipwrecks. You will not believe the amazing feats of courage, tragedy and extraordinary seamanship involved in these shipwreck stories.
We are also going to feature regular stories about what it was like to be a sailor in the age of the windjammers. From being press ganged to keel hauled, you will get a taste of how hard life was for these 17th and 18th century sailors. And we will make it even more interesting by making our host Corf experience the hardship of life on the tall ships. Watch him eat weevils, climb the 9 story mast of a rolling tall ship and get keelhauled under the hull of a 18th century barque.
